State Legislative Issues
On December 17th, Governor Tim Kaine released his 2008-2010 biennial budget before a joint meeting of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees. On January 9, 2008, the 2008 General Assembly session will convene and is scheduled to adjourn on or about March 8, 2008. During the session, in addition to finalizing the biennial budget, the legislature will consider over 3,000 bills, many of which will be relevant to local governments in general and to the City of Hampton specifically. For a list of the City of Hampton's 2008 legislative priorities, click here. In addition, periodic updates related to the progress of the city's initiatives during the session will be posted on this page, so check back here again soon.
