Foreign Assistant Teacher Program - Anyang, South Korea

Foreign Assistant Teacher Program

Qualification: Sister City citizens with bachelor's degree or higher

Obligations: Collaborative teaching as an assistant teacher, production of teaching materials, teaching English speaking, etc.

Employment period: 1 year (contract can be renewed each year)

Working hours: 22 hours per week (overtime payment of 20,000 won per hour)

Salary: 2 million won to 2.3 million won per month ($2,000 - $2,300 per month)

Housing: Rent and furnishing

Paid Leave: 14 days per year (during vacation), sick leave, special leave

Other support: Health insurance fees and part of a pension

 

·    Status of Foreign Assistant Teachers

o       Teachers are employed by local schools

§         Employment contract is established with a principal

§         Teachers are obligated to fulfill responsibilities as requested by an employer

§         Teachers are not considered civil servants and therefore cannot exercise power as civil servants

o       Teachers have temporary positions of one year, which can be renewed every year

§         Involved in regular educational courses, after-school courses, and teachers' training, and English camp and English class during vacation

o       Teachers are bridges between U.S. and Korea

 

Required Qualifications

1.      U.S. citizens with bachelor's degree or higher

2.      Excellent speakers of standard English

3.      Mentally and physically healthy people

 

Employment Levels and Standard for Payment

1.      Level 1 - 2.3 million won ($2,300 per month)

a.      Primary and middle school teacher license holders with 2 years or more of teaching experience

b.      English education license holders (TESOL/TEFL) who completed 100 hours or more of educational courses and who have 2 years or more of teaching experience in certified educational institutions

c.       Master's degree holders with 2 years or more of teaching experience in certified educational institutions

d.      Bachelor's degree holders in education with 2 years or more of experience in certified educational institutions

2.      Level 2 - 2.1 million won ($2,100 per month)

a.      Primary and middle school teacher's license holders

b.      English education license holders (TESOL/TEFL) who completed 100 hours or more of educational courses

c.       Master's degree holders

d.      Bachelor's degree holders with 1 year or more of experience in certified educational institutions

3.      Level 3 - 2 million won ($2,000 per month)

a.      Bachelor's degree holders
