Defense Agency Office remains in Hampton

The Defense Contract Management Agency and Hampton City officials celebrated a successful partnership to keep an agency office within the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony here today.

Mayor Ward cuts a ribbon crossing the doors of the newly relocated DCMA.

The DCMA Southern Virginia office, formerly located at Fort Monroe, relocated to 2000 Enterprise Parkway, on the site of the former Gateway computer manufacturing facility and will occupy 15,000 square feet of general, administrative office space under a lease negotiated by the General Services Administration.

Mayor Ward started the ribbon cutting ceremony by addressing attendees and thanking DCMA for their willingness to stay within the city.

"Although today's ribbon cutting is not to open a new business or building, it is, however, a recognition to the outstanding partnership and hard work by the City of Hampton and DCMA," she said. "Today signifies the beginning of DCMA writing a new chapter within our city."

Navy Cmdr. Daniel Seep, DCMA Southern Virginia commander, then addressed attendees and expressed his excitement for the new office location.

"I am pleased with how this arrangement has worked out," he said. "This building will meet our employee needs better while also presenting a more professional appearance to the customers we serve. This arrangement is a win-win for both the city and our agency."

The ceremony concluded with both Ward and Seep, and other officials in attendance, cutting the ribbon spanning the length of DCMA Southern Virginia's office doors.
