Buckroe Pier Construction

Buckroe Fishing Pier Is Scheduled To Open Spring 2009

Construction is now underway for the new fishing pier in the Buckroe Beach area.

The previous pier was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel in 2003.

The new pier, in the same location, will be owned and operated by the City of Hampton. The previous pier had been made entirely of wood. The new fishing pier will be supported by concrete pilings and beams, with a wood deck and railings. This should make it more resistant to storms and hurricanes.

Construction of the pier is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2009, including the pilings and decking/ railings. The City has the intention to open it to the public once that work is complete.
