Hampton Assessment Facts

The City of Hampton is located in southeastern Virginia on the lower Peninsula and is a part of what is known as the "Tidewater area". The city is bounded to the East by the Chesapeake Bay, to the South by the Hampton Roads Harbor, to the West by the City of Newport News, and to the North by the Back River, the City of Poquoson and York County. Hampton is comprised of 55 square miles and has a population of approximately 140,000 distributed in densities from suburban to very urban. There are 49,806 parcels, most of which are taxable with a small percentage of non-taxable parcels.
